Chief Keef much awaited fifth studio album, Almighty So 2, is the formal follow-up to his 2013 release Almighty So.
After Keef’s appearance at the Rolling Loud music festival in Oakland, California, he was asked about upcoming projects for his fans, and that’s how Almighty So 2 was first revealed. In response, Keef stated that three projects—The Cozart, Almighty So 2, and Back From the Dead 3—were on the horizon, with The Cozart dropping in September 2018 and Back From the Dead 3 following a month later.
On April 6, 2019, Keef posted the official cover art for Almighty So 2 on his Instagram, which was announced almost seven months earlier. On April 9, 2019, three days after the cover art was made public, Keef released the promotional song for the album, “Boost.”
One track from the album’s release, “Mooliani,” which featured Lil Uzi Vert, was supposed to be on Almighty So 2. But, because Uzi’s label refused to release his verse, Lil Reese, a fellow rapper, received the song for his project Supa Savage 3.
On March 7, 2024, it was announced on social media that the album had finally been completed after two years of numerous delays and little to no updates regarding its status. A purported tracklist, which included sixteen tracks and four features from Ballout, Lil Gnar, G Herbo, and Quavo, had been leaked.
On May 6, 2024, further details about the album were finally made public online. This included the official release date of May 10th, the official trailer, and the album’s final tracklist. The final tracklist included Tierra Whack and Sexyy Red as the six exclusive features.
